We had one day, 8 whole hours at Room Fifty Three and after much talking, laughter and tears (but mostly tears…Jon’s tears) we decided that our time would be best spent recording as much as we possibly could, as quickly as we possibly could for one song.  So on the morning of July 27 we set out with our drums, guitars, amplifiers, coffee mugs and chiseled abs toward East Athens in the hopes of capturing all manner of pitches and tones, the sum of which would hopefully generate a most pleasing noise.  Microphones were moved and knobs were turned, instruments tuned and dragons slain, drums beaten to a pulp and guitars strummed harder than the pounding of Thor’s hammer until we arrived at a complete recording of “Do the math”, a song that was in the running for our last EP, as long as the devil is after you, but was cut for the purposes of mood and continuity.

Our creative exercise and heroic exploits at Room Fifty Three resulted in a version of “Do the math” that consists mostly of first takes and initial reactions, the goal being the spontaneity of live performance instead of a sterile, over-edited feeling that so often plagues the art of recorded music.  We fought and played gallantly and Mark Tulk did an incredible job capturing the sounds and guiding us through the process with utmost sonic prowess, so we figured it was worth releasing and, honestly, what better way to release some music than as a free download just in time for Christmas?  We sincerely hope that you enjoy the music, and please feel free to tell us what you think!  Thanks so much for listening and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
